Bide-a-Wee Tour
Saturday, November 14 at 10 A.M.
Join us for a unique opportunity to go behind the scenes at the former Charles Kennedy Estate, Bide-a-Wee (Stay Awhile), on Old Volcano Road. Steven and Jill Loui purchased the property in 2021 and have been working diligently to clean and clear the house and gardens. Features of the Japanese Garden designed by A.T. Yamamoto have been uncovered, invasive species are being eradicated, and native species are being propagated and planted in the hope of restoring the native ecosystem.
Steven has a special interest in koa, was fascinated to learn of the different species found on Oʻahu, and has dedicated a section of the acreage to growing an upland variety from the seeds of old-growth koa found on the Volcano property. Steven himself will be our host and guide for this event. Light refreshments and a chance to see a portion of the historic home built by the Kennedys in the early 1900s are included.

Monthly Old Volcano Road Walking Tour
Join our guided walk along Old Volcano Road. Learn about the natural environment and historic homes, businesses, and people who have made up the heart of Volcano Village for more than 100 years. The tours are offered on the last Sunday of every month, beginning at Volcano Art Center's Niaulani campus.
Walking tours are nonrefundable.
